Warranty Claim Assistant Privacy Policy
Effective Date: [publication date]
This policy covers the Warranty Claim Assistant by HoldMyBill browser extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox ("the extension"). It is published by Ourbits Systems, the company behind HoldMyBill ("we", "our", "us"). The HoldMyBill app and website have their own Privacy Policy.
1. Summary
- The extension does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data.
- Everything you type stays in your browser on your device.
- The extension does not read, monitor or change the web pages you visit.
- You do not need an account to use it.
2. Information stored on your device
To let you finish a claim later, the extension stores the following in your browser's extension storage (storage.local) on your device:
- Claim drafts: the details you enter, such as the product, seller, dates, the description of the problem, your name for signing the letter, and any edits you make to the letter.
- Settings: interface language, appearance, and default country.
This information never leaves your device through the extension. We cannot see it, and it is not synced to other devices.
3. Information we do not collect
The extension does not collect browsing history, the address or content of web pages, location, analytics or usage statistics, advertising identifiers, or crash reports. It makes no network requests to HoldMyBill or to anyone else.
4. Actions you start
Some buttons hand your letter to other software on your device. The extension sends nothing itself:
- Copy puts the letter on your clipboard.
- Email opens your own email program with the letter filled in. Nothing is sent until you send it from that program.
- PDF opens your browser's print dialog, where you can save the letter as a PDF.
- Links to holdmybill.com, official legal sources and support pages open in a new tab. Those websites have their own privacy policies.
5. Permissions
- storage: saves your drafts and settings on your device.
- sidePanel (Chrome only): shows the assistant in Chrome's side panel. In Firefox it uses the built-in sidebar, which needs no extra permission.
The extension requests no access to websites (no host permissions).
6. Deleting your data
You can delete single drafts, or all drafts, on the Drafts screen. Settings → Delete all data on this device removes every draft and setting. Uninstalling the extension also removes all data it stored.
7. Children
The extension is not directed at children under 16 and collects no data from anyone.
8. Changes to this policy
If the extension's data practices change, for example if optional HoldMyBill account features are added, we will update this policy before releasing that version and change the effective date above.
